Booking The Test

Ring DNA Diagnostics Ltd for an appointment in the Auckland area or to arrange an overseas sample collection. Refer to the list of collection laboratories throughout New Zealand and make contact with the local laboratory for an appointment, if outside the Auckland area.

Samples from the putative father, the mother and the child do not need to be taken on the same day.

Identification Requirements
When making the appointment you will need to specify whether the appointment is for all parties, or fewer, of those to be tested. When parties present together they will generally be able to identify each other, although more formal identification is required when the test is for immigration reasons.

At The Sample Collection Centre

The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes.

Documentation
The putative father must sign consent for the analysis and the release of the result to the other parties. The consent reads as follows:

”I agree to provide a sample to be tested at DNA Diagnostics Ltd for the purpose of DNA paternity profiling. I give permission for the results to be released to the mother and child, directly or through their doctor or their legal representative, but agree that no results will be requested until DNA Diagnostics has been paid in full or received a solicitor's guarantee of payment in full.”

The mother must sign consent for the analysis on her and the child (if the child is under 16 years of age) and release of the result to the putative father. The consent reads as follows:

I agree to provide a sample from myself and my child/ren, of whom I am the legal guardian, to be tested at DNA Diagnostics Ltd for the purposes of DNA paternity profiling. I give my permission for the result to be released to the putative father, directly or through his doctor or his legal representative, but agree that no result will be requested until DNA Diagnostics has been paid in full or received a solicitor's guarantee of payment in full.”

Payment
Full payment is required, unless alternative arrangements have been made through lawyers. Payment should be made by cheque to DNA Diagnostics Ltd. The result will not be released before 5 working days of a private cheque date to allow for cheque clearance. The result will be released as soon as ready, if a bank cheque is provided.

Payment by credit card/EFTPOS can be made at some Diagnostic Medlab collection centres in Auckland. Not all venues have card facilities. Credit card details can be provided to DNA Diagnostics.

Please note: if the test does not proceed once the samples have been taken the case is subject to a cancellation fee of $180 (one or two samples taken) and $258 (all three samples taken).

Sampling
A small sample is taken from each person.

At The Testing Laboratory

The documentation and samples are received and processed. All testing is treated in the strictest confidence. All communication of information is restricted to those tested or their nominated representative. The result is provided in writing, as a formal report.
